Where our services run

The environmental footprint of a software service is decided mostly by where and how it is hosted. DataCops runs its core data collection and processing on OVHcloud datacenters in Strasbourg, France. France operates one of the lowest-carbon electricity grids in Europe, and OVHcloud operates its own datacenters with a focus on energy efficiency.

Energy-efficient European infrastructure

OVHcloud designs and builds its own datacenters and servers, uses an in-house water-cooling system that reduces the energy needed for cooling, publishes a low power usage effectiveness (PUE), sources low-carbon and renewable energy, and reuses and recycles its server hardware. These commitments are documented by OVHcloud on its sustainability pages.

The management layer of DataCops (the dashboard and API) is served through Cloudflare, which reports powering its network with renewable energy.

Less data by design

DataCops is built to store as little as possible, which directly lowers the storage and compute it needs. Raw, person-level records are kept only about 90 days and then deleted or reduced to anonymous aggregates. DataCops does not buy or ingest third-party data, so there are no large external data pipelines to power, and individuals can have their data erased on request. Collecting and keeping less data is both a privacy choice and a smaller environmental footprint.

What we do not claim

DataCops does not yet publish its own formal carbon report. The sustainability facts above describe the infrastructure our services run on, using the published commitments of OVHcloud and Cloudflare, and our own data-minimization design. As DataCops grows we intend to measure and report our footprint directly.
