Microsoft Ads (Bing) offline conversions
DataCops does not send conversions to Microsoft Ads. This page says so first, then shows you how Bing offline conversions work, how to keep the msclkid so no lead is lost, and how to decide if Bing deserves its own setup.

Why this matters even if you never upload
Many small advertisers treat Bing as a side channel. It often sends fewer clicks, but the people can be different: older, more likely to use a work computer, and sometimes more ready to buy. If you never store the click ID, you also never learn that.
Saving the msclkid costs almost nothing, and it keeps your options open. You can decide later, with real numbers in front of you, whether Bing earns a proper routine. If you throw the ID away at the form, that choice is gone for every lead you already collected.
There is also a plain bookkeeping benefit. A lead with a saved click ID tells you where it came from, so your sales reports stop showing a pile of leads with an unknown source.
The honest answer first
DataCops does not send conversions to Microsoft Ads. If you searched for Bing offline conversions hoping to find a one-click connector here, you will not find one, and we would rather say that in the first paragraph than let you sign up on a wrong guess.
What we can do is help you not lose the leads while you handle Bing your own way. The rest of this page covers what msclkid is, how Microsoft's import works at a high level, and a simple routine that costs almost nothing. If you also run Meta, Google Ads, TikTok or LinkedIn, those are covered by our offline conversions product.
What msclkid is
When someone clicks a Bing ad, Microsoft Ads can add a click ID called msclkid to the link. It rides on the page address, like this: yoursite.com/landing?msclkid=abc123. That value points to one specific click.
It matters because it is the key to matching a later sale back to an ad. A form fill today may become a paid customer three weeks from now. If you saved the msclkid on the lead, you can connect the two. If you did not, the sale looks like it came from nowhere and Bing gets no credit.
The problem is that the msclkid lives in the address bar for one page view. Once the visitor moves to another page, or you use a form that does not read the address, it is gone.
How Microsoft's offline conversion import works
At a high level it has three steps. You set up an offline conversion goal in your Microsoft Ads account. You collect a file with one row per sale, holding the msclkid, the name of the conversion goal, the time it happened and, if you want, a value and currency. Then you upload that file in the account, or through Microsoft's API.
Microsoft only accepts conversions within a limited window after the click, and the file format has rules. We are deliberately not quoting numbers here, because they can change. Check Microsoft's current documentation for the exact window and format before you build a routine around it.
What to do meanwhile
You can do this today, with or without DataCops:
- Capture the msclkid on the lead. Add a hidden field to your form and fill it from the page address. Your developer can do this in a few lines, and most form tools have a setting for it.
- Keep it in your CRM. Save it on the contact record as its own field. When the deal is won, it is still there.
- Do the upload with Microsoft's own tool. Export won deals with their msclkid, value and date, and upload them in Microsoft Ads. Put the date in your calendar so it happens inside Microsoft's window.
- Never overwrite it. If a lead returns through a different ad, keep the first click ID as well as the new one.
A made-up example
This is an example, not a real result. Say Bing sends 40 leads a month, and 6 of them buy at an average of 900. Without the msclkid saved, Microsoft Ads sees 40 form fills and no sales. With it, you upload 6 rows and Bing can tell which clicks became customers.
That is the whole gain: the campaign learns from buyers and not from every form fill. It only needs a saved field and a monthly file.
How to judge if Bing deserves its own setup
Ask three plain questions.
- How many leads a month? Under a few dozen, a manual upload is enough.
- What share of spend? If Bing is a small slice of your ad budget, do not build a system for it.
- Do the leads differ in quality? If Bing leads close at a very different rate to Google leads, that is a reason to feed Bing sales back, so its bidding can improve.
