The short answer
Hightouch moves your data. DataCops decides which conversions deserve to reach your ads, and adds the sales that happen after the click.
- DataCops: best overall if your goal is better ad conversions. One script, a bot verdict on every visit, consent built in, and CRM stages sent to your ads.
- Segment: best for large product and data teams that want the biggest catalogue.
- RudderStack: best for engineering-led teams that want a warehouse-native pipeline with a public price.
- Census: best for a like-for-like Reverse ETL swap.
- Stape: best if you already run Google Tag Manager and only need it server-side.
Most people who look at Hightouch want one thing: better data in their ad platforms. Hightouch can deliver that, but it gets there the long way round. First a warehouse. Then models. Then syncs. Then someone to keep all three working.
Most Hightouch alternatives lists compare connectors and warehouse support, as if the pipe were the product. This guide asks a different question: what should flow through it, and what never enters it.
Piping the data is not doing the work
Hightouch is honest about what it is. Its docs call your warehouse the source of truth. Events lands your tracking in the warehouse as tables. Reverse ETL copies rows back out to 300+ tools. That is a powerful design for a data team.
But look at what it leaves to you. A host, a CDP or a Reverse ETL tool moves your data. It does not decide:
- Which events deserve to go. A bot that fills your form is a row in your warehouse. Sync the table, and the bot goes to Meta.
- Which visits were real people. We found no per-visit bot, VPN or proxy verdict. If you want one, you model it.
- Which sale belongs to which click. The booked call and the won deal live in your CRM. Getting them into the warehouse, matching them to the ad click and syncing them out is a project you build.
- Which stage counts. Lead, booked, showed, won, paid. Which ones go to which platform, with what value, is a rule someone writes and keeps up.
Hosting or piping the work is not doing it. Hightouch gives you excellent pipes and a place to do the work. You still do the work.
DataCops is the other way round. DataCops is the tracking solution for ad-funded businesses: it keeps bots out of what your ads learn from and sends the sale that happens after the form to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. One script and one DNS record collect the visit from your own subdomain. Each visit gets a bot verdict. Real people only, per platform, keeps about 99% of bots out when you switch it on. HighLevel stages, or any CRM by private webhook, go back to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn matched to the original click. Every row shows sent, held, skipped or failed, with the reason.
A warehouse remembers every bot perfectly. It does not tell you which ones to keep away from your ads.

What's your actual goal?
Nobody wants a sync for its own sake. If you run ads, you want five things:
- Capture every lead and sale, including the ones ad blockers and Safari hide.
- Send them to your ad platforms, so Meta, Google, TikTok and LinkedIn learn who buys.
- Include the sales that happen offline, on a call, in a clinic, in your CRM.
- Keep bots out, so the platforms do not learn from fake leads.
- Stay compliant, with consent checked and data deleted on request.
Hightouch gives you the parts to build the machine that does those five things. DataCops is the machine. Here is the same goal, done both ways.
The traditional way, with Hightouch
- Set up and pay for a data warehouse.
- Install Hightouch Events on the site and write a tracking plan.
- Load your CRM data into the warehouse.
- Write SQL models that match each sale to its ad click.
- Model out bots and junk leads, if you model them at all.
- Build a sync per ad platform and map every field.
- Wire consent into collection and every sync.
- Book a demo to learn the price.
- Keep a data person on it every time a platform or schema changes.
With DataCops
- Add one script and one DNS record.
- Connect each ad platform with one click.
- Switch on the consent manager.
- Switch on Real people only.
- Connect HighLevel or your CRM webhook.
Then run your business. Click IDs and the fields each platform wants are handled for you.
Hightouch sells you the pipes. DataCops does the job, so you can focus on what actually makes money.
The real cost of a demo-only price
Hightouch's free plan covers basic Reverse ETL, with up to 2 active syncs. It does not include Events. The CDP itself has no public price. And the licence is only one line of the bill. Answer these with your own numbers.
How many hours will it take to build your warehouse models, CRM matching and ad syncs before the first sale is tracked?
How many hours a month will someone spend keeping it working when Meta, Google or TikTok change something?
If a tag breaks quietly for a week, how many leads never reach your ads? And what is one lead worth to you?
How many sales a month close in your CRM that your ads never hear about?
The last question matters most. When the ads only see form fills, they learn to find more people who fill in forms, not people who buy. A warehouse full of perfect data does not fix that until someone builds the sync that sends the sale.
The warehouse bill, the data team and the licence are all real. The better ad results only come after you build them.
Why people look past Hightouch
Hightouch is good software. People look elsewhere for reasons around it, not in it.
- It needs a warehouse. No Snowflake, BigQuery or similar, no Hightouch. Many small teams and agencies do not have one.
- It needs a data person. Models, syncs and tracking plans are SQL and schema work.
- No public price. Beyond the free Reverse ETL plan, you book a demo.
- Bots are yours to model. We found no bot verdict per visit or switch per ad platform.
- The CRM stage is a build. Booked, showed and won reach your ads only after you load, match and sync them.
- It is more than ad tracking needs. Audiences, AI decisioning and personalization are great, if you use them.
The real difference: what goes through the pipe
Here is what that means in practice, one job at a time.
No warehouse to build
With Hightouch, your warehouse is the centre of everything. Events lands your tracking there, and syncs push rows back out. It is flexible and it is yours. Building and paying for it is the job.
DataCops needs no warehouse. You add one script and one DNS record, and it runs server-side from your own subdomain. Connect Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn with one click each, and events arrive with the fields each platform wants.
Every visit gets a verdict
A warehouse stores what arrives. If a bot fills your form, that row is as real as any other until someone writes a rule. We found no per-visit bot, VPN or proxy verdict in Hightouch.
DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies, and turns it into one switch per ad platform (see click fraud protection). Turn on Real people only for Meta and flagged visits never reach Meta. With it on, about 99% of bots are kept out. It is off by default, so you choose where it applies.
The sale happens after the form
For a clinic, an agency or a B2B team, the money comes later: the booked call, the show-up, the won deal. Hightouch can send any warehouse table to an ad platform. First you get the CRM data in, match it to the click and build the sync.
DataCops is built around that moment. Install it once on your HighLevel agency and pick the clients. Leads, booked calls, show-ups, won deals with their value and paid invoices go to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, matched to the ad click. Any other CRM posts to a private webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n. Cancellations, no-shows and lost deals are never sent. See HighLevel conversion tracking.
Consent on both sides
Hightouch's docs mention a Consent Manager and a OneTrust integration for Events. Fair enough, call it close. DataCops includes a first-party consent manager on IAB TCF v2.2, served from your own domain, and website events wait for consent before they are sent. In the EU, the 400-day visitor cookie needs consent too.
You can see why each conversion was sent
Hightouch has event-level logs and alerts, which is good for a data team. DataCops writes every conversion as a row per platform (sent, held, skipped or failed) with the reason next to it, in plain words a marketer can read.
Privacy and deletion are built in
With a warehouse, deletion is your job across every table and sync. DataCops handles it in one place. Visitors ask through a form on your privacy page, confirm by email, their session is anonymised, and a status page shows what was done. Deletion requests from Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn are acted on automatically; Google Ads deletions are a manual step. Click IDs, sessions and the click log are deleted after 90 days, and the identity store holds hashed email and phone only.
Hightouch tells you the row synced. DataCops tells you whether it should have.
Offline conversions: the job a pipe cannot decide
Most businesses do not sell on the website. The website collects the lead. The money comes later, and that is what your ads need to learn from.
| Business | What the pixel sees | What DataCops adds |
|---|---|---|
| Clinics, dental, med spa | Booking form | Booked, showed, treatment paid |
| Home services, roofing, solar | Quote request | Estimate booked, job won with its value |
| Agencies running client ads | Form fills per client | Every client's booked, showed, won and paid |
| B2B and SaaS | Demo request, signup | Qualified lead, trial, paid, by webhook |
| Legal, finance, high-ticket services | Enquiry | Consult booked, client signed |
From HighLevel natively, or any CRM by webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n. Each sale is matched to the ad click by email or phone.
- A visitor clicks your ad. DataCops keeps the click ID on your own domain for 90 days.
- The lead books, shows up or buys in your CRM, days or weeks later.
- DataCops finds the original click by the lead's email or phone.
- The stage goes to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, counted once.
With Hightouch, each of those steps is a load, a model and a sync you build and maintain. See offline conversions for the full picture.
Meta health and wellness restrictions
If you advertise a clinic, a treatment, a supplement or anything health related, Meta may restrict the events it accepts from you. What usually gets an account restricted is the data itself: the page link names the treatment, the event is called Book_Implant_Consult, the form sends symptoms.
With Hightouch, keeping that out is your job: you strip fields and rename events in your models and syncs, and remember to do it again for every new form or column.
With DataCops, you switch on health mode. It sends only fields on an approved list. Page links are cut to the domain and event names go neutral, so Lead becomes L_1.

Setup, step by step, side by side
| The job | With Hightouch | |
|---|---|---|
| Collect website events | Connect a warehouse, install Events, define a tracking plan. | Add one script and one DNS record. |
| Send to Meta CAPI | Write a model, create a Meta sync, map fields. | Click Connect Meta and sign in. Fields and deduplication are handled. |
| Capture click IDs | Collect them in events and carry them through your models. | Captured automatically, kept 90 days. |
| Send a CRM sale | Load CRM data into the warehouse, match to the click, build a sync. | Install once on HighLevel, or post to your webhook. |
| Keep bots out | Model them out yourself. | Switch on Real people only per platform. |
| Google Ads conversion actions | Create and map them in the sync. | Created for you, as secondary actions. |
| Find a missing conversion | Check sync and event logs, then the model. | Open the delivery log row. The reason is next to it. |
Every Hightouch step is doable, and data teams do them daily. The point is who does them, and whether you have that person.
"15 minutes to get server-side tracking live. After 3 days failing with another app and a DIY server-side Google Tag Manager, that alone sold me. Then support jumped on a Google Meet with me on a Sunday afternoon to finish the job."Andrew Forsyth, Chief Executive Officer, Zeald

1. DataCops: best Hightouch alternative for ad tracking
DataCops is not a CDP. It is a tracking solution. Conversions go server-side from your own domain, every visit gets a bot verdict, consent is checked, and the stages after the form come from your CRM, matched to the click. Every event gets a row that says what happened and why.
Why people switch to it
- No warehouse, no models, no data team
- Real people only keeps bots out of each platform
- Booked, showed, won and paid from HighLevel or any CRM
- A public price
Worth knowing
- Four ad platforms only
- No audiences or warehouse sync
- Real people only is off until you switch it on
Best for: teams whose goal is ads that learn who actually buys.

2. Segment: best for large product and data teams
Segment is the classic customer data platform, with the biggest catalogue here at 550+ destinations. It prices by MTUs, which counts active users plus anonymous visitors, so traffic spikes raise the bill. The full CDP is quoted.
Like Hightouch, it moves your data very well. Bots, CRM matching and what goes to each ad platform are still yours to design.
Why people switch to it
- Largest catalogue
- Mature, widely known
Worth knowing
- MTU pricing grows with traffic
- Still a data team tool
Best for: teams with a data team that need every destination. See our Segment alternatives.

3. RudderStack: best for engineering-led teams
RudderStack is warehouse-native like Hightouch, with a public price, which Hightouch's CDP does not have. It suits engineers who want an open, code-first pipeline.
It is still a pipeline. Bots, CRM stages and ad-ready fields are your build.
Why people switch to it
- Public pricing and a real free tier
- Warehouse-native
Worth knowing
- Needs engineers
- Priced by events, not visits
Best for: teams that want Hightouch's model with a price on the page.

4. Census: best like-for-like Reverse ETL swap
Census is Hightouch's most direct rival: it syncs warehouse tables into your tools. If you like the Reverse ETL model and want a second quote, this is it. Its pricing now sits with Fivetran, so check there.
Same catch as Hightouch: warehouse first, data team always.
Why people switch to it
- Closest swap
- Fits a Fivetran stack
Worth knowing
- Needs a warehouse
- Bots and CRM matching are your build
Best for: teams who think Hightouch is the right idea and want another vendor.

5. Stape: best if you already run GTM
If you do not need a warehouse at all and only want your GTM tags sent server-side, Stape is cheap and popular. You still build the container, tags and triggers.
Why people switch to it
- Low entry price
- No warehouse
Worth knowing
- A GTM container to build and maintain
- Priced per request
Best for: teams that know GTM well. See our Stape alternatives.
What you give up with DataCops
Fair question, so here is the straight answer.
- Destinations. Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. No Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Snap, Pinterest, GA4 feed or warehouse.
- Owning every event as tables. Hightouch lands your data in your warehouse. DataCops does not.
- Audiences and personalization. No Customer Studio, identity resolution or AI decisioning.
- Schema control. No SDKs for apps and backends, no data contracts, no Git-synced tracking plans.
- Engineering freedom. With Hightouch your data team can model anything in SQL and send it anywhere. DataCops makes the choices for you, which is the point, but it is also a limit.
If you use those, keep Hightouch. If you bought it to fix ad conversions, you lose nothing you use.
How to choose a Hightouch alternative
- Ask what job you are hiring for. A data platform, or better ad results? They are different tools.
- Check if you have a warehouse and a data person. If not, Hightouch, Census and RudderStack start with a project.
- Check where your sales close. In a CRM or on a call? You need the stages after the form, matched to the click.
- Look at your traffic. If bots fill your forms, you want a switch per platform, not a model to maintain.
- Count your destinations. Four ad platforms? DataCops. Many tools? A CDP.
Stay with Hightouch if
- You have a warehouse and a data team who enjoy owning it.
- You need audiences, identity resolution or personalization.
- You send data to many tools beyond the big four ad platforms.
Pick DataCops if
- Your goal is better ad conversions, not a data platform.
- Your sales close after the form: a booking, a call, a signed deal.
- You or your agency run HighLevel, or have no data team.
Moving from Hightouch without losing tracking
- Add DataCops next to Hightouch. One script and one DNS record. Leave your syncs running.
- Connect the same ad accounts, but send each conversion from one place only. Pause the matching Hightouch sync so nothing counts twice.
- Compare for two weeks in Meta Events Manager and Google Ads, including what DataCops skipped as bots.
- Connect your CRM through HighLevel or your webhook.
- Keep Hightouch for what it does best, such as audiences and other tools, or wind it down.
Every DataCops product mentioned here
- Offline conversions and HighLevel conversion tracking, plus DataCops for agencies.
- Server-side tracking and the no-GTM alternative.
- Meta Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking, TikTok Events API, LinkedIn Conversions API.
- Click fraud protection, SignupCops and first-party analytics.
- Consent manager, Ads Warmup and health mode.
Hightouch alternatives: FAQ
What is the best Hightouch alternative?
It depends on the job. If you want a warehouse-first data platform, Segment, RudderStack or Census. If what you really want is better ad conversions, DataCops does that job directly: one script, a bot verdict on every visit, a consent manager built in, and CRM stages like booked, showed and won sent to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. No warehouse needed.
How much does Hightouch cost?
On hightouch.com/pricing, checked September 2026: a free plan for basic Reverse ETL with up to 2 active syncs, unlimited destinations and unlimited seats. The Composable CDP and the Agentic Marketing Platform are usage based with no public price. You book a demo to get one. The free plan does not include Hightouch Events.
Do I need a data warehouse to use Hightouch?
Yes. Hightouch reads from and writes to your warehouse, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Postgres or MySQL. Its Events product writes your tracking into the warehouse as tables. DataCops needs no warehouse: one script and one DNS record.
Does Hightouch filter bots before sending conversions to ads?
We found no per-visit bot, VPN or proxy verdict on its site, and no switch per ad platform to keep flagged visits out. You could build a filter in your warehouse models. DataCops puts a verdict on every visit, and with Real people only switched on for a platform, flagged visits never reach it. The switch is off by default.
Can Hightouch send HighLevel stages to Meta and Google Ads?
Hightouch can sync any table in your warehouse to ad platforms, so yes, if you first load HighLevel data into the warehouse, match it to the click and build the model and sync. We found no native HighLevel install. DataCops installs once on your HighLevel agency and sends lead, booked, showed, won with value and paid, matched to the ad click.
Does Hightouch have a consent manager?
Its docs mention a Consent Manager and a OneTrust integration for Events. DataCops also includes a first-party consent manager built on IAB TCF v2.2, and website events wait for consent before they are sent.
Is DataCops a CDP?
No. DataCops has no audiences, identity resolution, personalization or warehouse sync. It is a tracking solution: it captures the conversion, decides whether it deserves to go, adds the CRM stage and sends it to your ad platforms. If you need a CDP, Hightouch, Segment or RudderStack is the right tool.
Which ad platforms does DataCops send to?
Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. No Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Snap, Pinterest or GA4 feed. Hightouch reaches 300+ tools, so it wins on reach.
How much does DataCops cost?
Free up to 2,000 sessions a month. Business is $49 a month billed yearly ($59 monthly) for 50,000 sessions. Organization is $299, and agency plans start at $199. A session is one visit, like in Google Analytics, and a new one starts after 30 minutes of no activity. Sessions past your plan are skipped until you upgrade or the month resets.
