The short answer
SegMetrics reports what worked. DataCops makes sure the ads learn it, with clean data, on every plan.
- DataCops: best overall if you want the ads to find buyers. One script, server-side on every plan, bots kept out, consent built in, and booked, showed, won and paid sent to your ads.
- Hyros: best for info and coaching businesses with big ad spend.
- Wicked Reports: best for ecommerce and subscription LTV reporting.
- Cometly: best for B2B SaaS teams tracking pipeline.
- RedTrack: best for affiliates and media buyers.
SegMetrics is a good reporting tool. It follows each contact from the first click to the purchase and beyond, and it plugs into more than 130 tools. If you want to know which ad brought your best customers, it answers that well.
But a report is read by you. Your ads never read it. That is the gap this guide is about.
A report is not a signal
Here is the hard truth about attribution tools. They tell you what worked. Meta, Google, TikTok and LinkedIn learn nothing from your dashboard. They learn from the conversions you send them. If they only see a form fill, they go and find more people who fill in forms.
SegMetrics knows this, which is why it sells a Conversion Feeder. It is a good idea. But it only starts on Grow at $197 a month. Server-side tracking only starts on Scale at $397. And the feeder sends what it is given: we found no bot verdict and no consent manager on its site.
DataCops starts from the other end. It is the tracking layer, not a dashboard. Every visit is captured server-side from your own domain. Bots are kept out of each platform where you switch on Real people only. Consent is checked. Then each stage of the sale (booked, showed, won, paid) goes back to the ads, matched to the original click. The algorithm stops chasing form fillers and starts finding buyers.
A dashboard makes you smarter. A clean signal makes your ads smarter. Only one of them spends your budget.
What's your actual goal?
Nobody buys attribution for the charts. You want five things:
- Capture every lead and sale, including the ones ad blockers and Safari hide.
- Send them to your ad platforms, so Meta, Google, TikTok and LinkedIn learn who buys.
- Include the sales that happen later, on a call, in a clinic, in your CRM.
- Keep bots out, so the platforms do not learn from fake leads.
- Stay compliant, with consent checked and data deleted on request.
SegMetrics covers the reporting around those goals, and part of goal two on its higher plans. DataCops is built for all five. Here is the same goal, done both ways.
The traditional way, with SegMetrics
- Install the tracking script and connect your integrations.
- Upgrade to Grow ($197) to get the Conversion Feeder.
- Set filters for which sales feed which platform.
- Upgrade to Scale ($397) if you want server-side tracking.
- Buy a consent banner from another vendor and wire it in.
- Find another tool, or live with it, for bot traffic.
- Read the dashboards and move budget by hand.
With DataCops
- Add one script and one DNS record.
- Connect Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn with one click each.
- Switch on the consent manager.
- Switch on Real people only.
- Connect HighLevel or your CRM webhook.
Then run your business. The ads get every stage of the sale and optimize on it by themselves.
SegMetrics helps you steer. DataCops lets the ads steer themselves toward buyers.
The real cost of a $197 tool
SegMetrics starts at $57. But the plan that sends sales back to your ads is $197, and server-side is $397. Then come the costs nobody lists. Answer these with your own numbers.
How many hours will it take to build your SegMetrics integrations, feeder filters and a separate consent banner before the first sale is tracked?
How many hours a month will someone spend keeping it working when Meta, Google or TikTok change something?
If a tag breaks quietly for a week, how many leads never reach your ads? And what is one lead worth to you?
How many sales a month close in your CRM that your ads never hear about?
The last question is the one that matters most. When the ads only see form fills, they learn to find people who fill in forms, not people who buy. A better report does not fix that. A better signal does.
The most expensive report is the one that shows you the problem and cannot fix it.
Why people leave SegMetrics
SegMetrics does reporting well. People leave for reasons around it.
- The useful part costs more. Sending sales back to the ads starts at $197. Server-side starts at $397.
- No free plan. There is a 14-day trial, then $57 a month at the least.
- Bots are not handled. We found no bot verdict or bot switch on its site. Fake leads count the same as real ones.
- Consent is your job. We found no consent manager of its own.
- Someone has to read it. A dashboard only helps if a person acts on it every week.
The real difference: who learns from the data
Here is what that means in practice, one job at a time.
Server-side on every plan
SegMetrics lists server-side tracking on Scale, at $397 a month. Below that, your data depends on browser tracking, which ad blockers and Safari cut into.
DataCops is server-side and first-party from your own subdomain on every plan, free included. You add one script and one DNS record. Click IDs are kept 90 days and visitors are remembered up to 400 days (with consent in the EU).
Every visit gets a verdict
We found no bot filtering on SegMetrics' site. If a bot fills your form, it becomes a contact, and if it gets the right tag it can be fed to your ads.
DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies. Turn on Real people only for a platform and flagged visits never reach it. It is off by default, so you choose where it applies. When on, it keeps about 99% of bots out. See click fraud protection.
Every stage of the sale, not only the purchase
SegMetrics' feeder sends real sales every day to Facebook, Google, TikTok and Bing. That is useful for a store. For a clinic, an agency or a B2B team, the ads also need the steps before the money: the booked call, the show-up.
DataCops sends each stage as it happens. Install it once on your HighLevel agency and pick the clients: form leads, booked calls, show-ups, won deals with their value and paid invoices go to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, matched to the click. Any other CRM posts to a private webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n. Cancellations, no-shows and lost deals are never sent. Read more on offline conversions and HighLevel conversion tracking.
Consent is built in
We found no consent manager of its own on segmetrics.io. DataCops includes a first-party consent manager built on IAB TCF v2.2, served from your own domain, and website events wait for consent before they are sent.
You can see why each event was sent
DataCops writes every conversion as a row per platform (sent, held, skipped or failed) with the reason next to it. When a client asks why a conversion is missing, you open the row. We found no delivery log like this on SegMetrics' feeder page.
Privacy and data deletion are built in
Visitors can ask for deletion through a form on your privacy page: they confirm by email, their session data is anonymised, and a status page shows what was done. Deletion requests from Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn are handled automatically. Google Ads deletions are still a manual step. Click IDs, sessions and the click log are deleted after 90 days, and the identity store holds hashed emails and phones only. We found none of this on SegMetrics' site.
SegMetrics tells you who bought. DataCops tells the ads, and keeps the bots out of the lesson.
Offline conversions, by industry
Most businesses do not sell on the website. The website collects the lead. The money comes later, and that later moment is what your ads need to learn from. Here is what DataCops sends, by industry.
| Business | What the pixel sees | What DataCops adds |
|---|---|---|
| Clinics, dental, med spa | Booking form | Booked, showed, treatment paid |
| Coaching and courses | Opt-in, call booked | Showed, won with its value, paid |
| Agencies running client ads | Form fills per client | Every client's booked, showed, won and paid |
| B2B and SaaS | Demo request, signup | Lead, won, paid, by webhook |
| Home services, legal, finance | Quote or enquiry | Consult booked, job or client won |
From HighLevel natively, or any CRM by webhook, directly or through Zapier, Make or n8n.
- A visitor clicks your ad. DataCops keeps the click ID on your own domain.
- The lead books, shows up or buys in your CRM, days or weeks later.
- DataCops matches it to the original ad click by click ID or hashed email and phone.
- The stage goes to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, counted once.
If you sell online only, the edge is softer: your purchases already reach the ads. Then the case for DataCops is bots kept out, consent handled, first-party capture on every plan and no dashboard to babysit.
Meta health and wellness restrictions
If you advertise a clinic, a treatment or a supplement, Meta may restrict the events it accepts from you. What gets an account restricted is the data itself: the page link names the treatment, the event is called Book_Implant_Consult, the form sends symptoms.
With SegMetrics, we found no health setting on its site. The feeder filters which sales go out, not which fields ride along with them.
With DataCops, you switch on health mode. It sends only a short approved list of fields and blocks everything else. Page links are cut to the domain and event names go neutral, so Lead becomes L_1.
Read more on Meta health and wellness restrictions.

"15 minutes to get server-side tracking live. After 3 days failing with another app and a DIY server-side Google Tag Manager, that alone sold me. Then support jumped on a Google Meet with me on a Sunday afternoon to finish the job."Andrew Forsyth, Chief Executive Officer, Zeald

1. DataCops: best SegMetrics alternative overall
DataCops is the tracking solution for ad-funded businesses: it keeps bots out of what your ads learn from and sends the sale that happens after the form to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. It is not a prettier dashboard. It is the tracking underneath. Every visit is captured server-side from your own domain, checked for bots and consent, and every stage of the sale goes back to the ads matched to the click. The ads do the optimizing, so nobody has to babysit a report.

- Real people only keeps bots out of each platform
- Booked, showed, won and paid from HighLevel or any CRM
- Consent manager and delivery log included

What you give up with DataCops
Fair question, so here is the straight answer.
- Attribution reports. No multi-touch models, no LTV cohorts, no customer journey charts. You get a click log.
- Integrations. Four ad platforms, HighLevel and a webhook, against SegMetrics' 130+. No Microsoft Ads.
- History. DataCops starts from the day you install it. SegMetrics can import past data.
- A money-back window. SegMetrics offers 30 days. DataCops has a free plan to try first instead.
If you need those reports, keep SegMetrics for reporting and let DataCops feed the ads. The two work side by side.
Moving from SegMetrics without losing tracking
- Add DataCops next to SegMetrics. One script and one DNS record. Leave SegMetrics running.
- Connect the same ad accounts, and turn off the Conversion Feeder for those platforms, so nothing counts twice.
- Connect your CRM (HighLevel or your webhook) to send booked, showed, won and paid.
- Compare for two weeks in Meta Events Manager and Google Ads: match quality, conversions, and what DataCops skipped as bots.
- Decide what to keep. Keep SegMetrics for reports, or downgrade or cancel at the end of the cycle.
How to choose a SegMetrics alternative
- Ask who needs to learn. If it is you, pick an attribution tool. If it is the ads, pick a tracking layer.
- Check where your sales close. If they close in a CRM or on a call, the ads need booked and showed, not only the purchase.
- Look at your traffic. If bots fill your forms, you want them kept out before they reach the ads.
- Count your destinations. Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn? DataCops covers them. Microsoft Ads? SegMetrics does.
- Price the plan that does the job. For SegMetrics, that is $197 for the feeder and $397 for server-side.
Stay with SegMetrics if
- You want multi-touch, person-level attribution and LTV reports.
- You need 130+ integrations, including your ESP and payment tools.
- You advertise on Microsoft Ads.
Pick DataCops if
- You want the ads to learn who buys, not only your team.
- Your sales close after the form: a booking, a call, a visit, a signed deal.
- You want server-side, bot filtering and consent without paying for the top plan.
Every DataCops product mentioned here
- Offline conversions: CRM sales and stages back to your ads.
- HighLevel conversion tracking and DataCops for agencies.
- Server-side tracking and the no-GTM alternative.
- Meta Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking, TikTok Events API, LinkedIn Conversions API.
- Click fraud protection, SignupCops and first-party analytics.
- Consent manager, Ads Warmup and health mode.
SegMetrics alternatives: FAQ
What is the best SegMetrics alternative?
If you want deeper attribution reports, Wicked Reports or Hyros. If your real goal is for the ads to find more buyers, DataCops: one script, server-side from your own domain, a bot verdict on every visit, a consent manager built in, and CRM stages like booked, showed, won and paid sent to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn, matched to the click.
How much does SegMetrics cost?
On segmetrics.io/pricing, checked September 2026: Launch $57 a month for up to 10,000 active contacts, Grow $197 a month, Scale $397 a month, and custom Enterprise pricing for companies above $10M in yearly revenue. Paying yearly gives two months free. There is a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee, but no free plan.
Does SegMetrics send conversions back to the ad platforms?
Yes, through its Conversion Feeder. It sends real sales back every day to Facebook, Google, TikTok and Bing, filtered by tag, value or custom field. It is not on Launch. Grow at $197 a month is the cheapest plan that has it.
Does SegMetrics have server-side tracking?
Only on Scale, at $397 a month. DataCops is server-side and first-party from your own subdomain on every plan, including the free one.
Does SegMetrics filter bots?
We found no per-visit bot verdict or bot switch on segmetrics.io. DataCops checks every visit for bots, datacenter traffic, VPNs and proxies, and with Real people only switched on for a platform, flagged visits never reach it. It is off by default.
Does SegMetrics have a consent manager?
We found no consent manager of its own on its site. DataCops includes a first-party consent manager built on IAB TCF v2.2, and website events wait for consent before they are sent.
Is DataCops an attribution tool?
No, and it does not pretend to be. DataCops has a click log in its first-party analytics, not multi-touch models or LTV cohorts. It is the tracking layer: it captures the click, keeps bots out, checks consent and sends every stage of the sale to your ads so the algorithm learns who buys.
Can I use SegMetrics and DataCops together?
Yes. Many teams keep an attribution tool for reports and use DataCops to feed the ad platforms. If you do, send each conversion to each platform from one place only, so nothing counts twice.
Is DataCops cheaper than SegMetrics?
At the entry level, yes. DataCops has a free plan up to 2,000 sessions and Business at $49 a month billed yearly ($59 monthly) for 50,000 sessions. SegMetrics starts at $57 a month and the Conversion Feeder starts at $197. The units differ: SegMetrics counts active contacts, DataCops counts sessions, one visit like Google Analytics.
Which ad platforms does DataCops send to?
Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and LinkedIn. Microsoft Ads is not supported. SegMetrics sends to Bing, so if Microsoft Ads matters to you, that is a real point for SegMetrics.
