Why we run our own
Most tools license an IP lookup from a third party, cache it, and hope it stays accurate. IP ownership changes constantly, VPN providers add endpoints daily, and a stale list quietly lets bad traffic through. DataCops runs its own service and updates it continuously, so the picture stays fresh and the verdicts stay accurate.
One fewer company on your data
Because DataCops runs its own IP service, your visitors' addresses are never sent off to a separate IP-lookup vendor to be checked. The lookup happens inside DataCops. That means one fewer company touching your visitor data, a simpler list of who processes it, and a cleaner story when you answer to your own customers about where their data goes.
What it powers
The same service feeds three parts of the platform:
- Fraud. The network half of the fraud verdict: is this a real network or a datacenter, VPN, proxy, or Tor exit.
- Analytics. Where your real visitors are, and honest visitor counts once the bots are removed.
- Consent. Working out whether a visitor is in a region that needs opt-in, so the consent gate applies the right rule.
